Founding Partner and CIO
Ori Hershkovitz has over 20 years of experience covering and investing in the healthcare sector. From 2006 to 2014 he was a founding member of the Sphera Global Healthcare Fund, where he served as head of research. Prior to joining Sphera, Ori held several senior pharmaceutical equity analyst roles at Leader & Co (from 2001-2006) and Ilanot Batucha Investment House (from 1998-2001). In 2014, Ori was the head lecturer for a healthcare analyst course sponsored by the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which was attended by leading investors and healthcare executives from across the globe. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Finance from Tel Aviv University.
Founding Partner and CEO
Daniel has over 13 years of hedge fund industry experience. Initially, as an allocator and more recently in his current role as a co-founding partner of NEXTHERA Capital. From 2005-2014, he was a member of the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation investment team. Daniel was responsible for a wide range of investment strategies that included equity (long only & long/short), credit (long only & long/short), absolute return (CTA, macro, event driven, FI arbitrage), and private equity. While at Safra, Daniel built an internal managed account platform upon which more than 20 external hedge fund managers trade their strategies through dedicated accounts. From 2003 to 2005, he was a strategy consultant for Accenture. Daniel graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s in Business Information Management from the Free University of Brussels.
Rael Mazansky M.D.
Director of Research and Portfolio Manager
Rael has over 18 years of experience covering and investing in the healthcare sector. He started his career in 1999 as a Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking division of CSFB. In 2005 he joined Ridgeback Capital Management to focus on healthcare and biotech investing. From 2007 to 2011, he served as a Senior Analyst at Perceptive Advisors covering small, mid-sized and large cap biopharmaceutical and diagnostics companies. From 2011 to 2014, Rael was a Portfolio Manager at Surveyor Capital, a unit ofCitadel, where he managed a $600 million long/short equity portfolio focused on life sciences. From 2014 to 2016 he managed a family office that invested in public and private healthcare companies. Rael graduated from Columbia Business School (MBA in Finance and Accounting) in 1999 after obtaining an MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He graduated with a BA from Brown University.
Tim has 15 years of experience working with hedge funds. Before NEXTHERA he was a senior member of the UBS Prime Brokerage Capital Consulting team for over 5 years, working in New York and London with hedge fund start-ups and established billion dollar clients. He specialized in US and European legal, regulatory and tax issues as well as operational due diligence and hedge fund operations. Prior to UBS, he was the Deputy CFO of Autonomy Capital for 3 years, a multi-billion dollar global macro hedge fund where he was responsible for the day-to-day finance and compliance functions of the New York and London offices. Tim started his career as a consultant, providing outsourced CFO and compliance services to hedge funds and simultaneously, earned his Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) designation. After receiving a BSc (hons) from King's College London, he went on to complete an MSc in Management with Finance from the University of Bath.
